To begin our day, we will meet at the Yosemite Valley Lodge (located across from Yosemite Falls in Yosemite Valley) at 8 a.m. After a quick introduction and itinerary briefing, we will begin our hike by heading over to Camp 4 where the Yosemite Falls trailhead begins. Be prepared for a highly strenuous 3.2-mile hike ascending 2,440 vertical feet from the valley’s 4,000′ elevation to the top of Upper Yosemite Falls at 6,440′. We will take our time, taking frequent water breaks and taking time to enjoy the astonishing scenery and the incredible views of Yosemite’s tallest waterfall series along the way, Yosemite Falls falling 2,425 vertical feet.
Once atop Yosemite Falls, we will venture out to the lookout at the top of Yosemite Falls. If time permits, we will ascend another 1 mile and 565 vertical feet to the vantage point of Yosemite Point, 3,200 feet above Yosemite Valley, where the hike began. This high point offers stunning perspectives of Glacier Point, Cathedral Rocks, Sentinel Dome, the Clark Range, Half Dome, Cloud’s Rest, Sierra Point and much more. After eating, drinking, relaxing and enjoying the high country views, we will turn around and retrace our steps 4.5 miles back to the valley, descending a knee pounding 3,100 vertical feet. Here we will say our goodbyes and end the day, and hopefully see you sooner than later!

Yes, we book all of our Day Hikes as private and do not have an option to join a group. The only exception is our Half Dome in a Day hike in Yosemite, which allows up to 5 guests and 1 guide per trip.
Unfortunately, no, we do not schedule half-day tours. However, as every Day Hike is private, you can modify and customize your day with the guide as needed upon meeting and/or throughout the tour. For example, if you need (or prefer) to end at a specific time, just let the guide know when you meet, and they can make that happen.
Yes, and lucky you, as you will have a private guide for that day.
Yes, see here for our Day Hike Equipment List.

No, and we suggest you bring your own trail lunch, snacks, and full water bottles.

Fantastic hike up Yosemite Falls, Highly recommend Nick Lange as a guide. Nick Lange was a great guide. He gave us lots of good advice in preparation and entertained us with stories to keep our mind off the grind up the switchbacks. He has a great passion for the area and enjoys sharing that with his charges (young & old).
Two Days of “Day-Hikes” with Kimball in Yosemite Valley I, a retired professional from New York and very interested in photography, and my wife, a CPA, knew we would need lots of help if were to get the most out of our four-day trip to Yosemite National Park. We only had three full days to get in all the major sights and seeing them from the main road would just not be satisfying. I wanted to really See the park and capture its beauty with my Nikons. We researched the possibilities, selected Lasting Adventures, and were assigned Kimball as our guide -- the perfect combination. There were no issues with the booking process, but the spring melt required a detour as we could not get to Glacier Point for a hike back down to the Valley via the Panorama/4-Mile trails; our other day was to be an ad hoc custom tour in the Valley. Scott got back to me within hours and suggested taking two “Yosemite Custom Adventures” one on May 2nd and the other on May 4th, and mix up what we do each day based on conditions and trail openings. Incredibly, Kimball had the patience to mix the trails for two novices so we had a combination of easy, moderate and strenuous hikes and in the end we were able to see Vernal Fall, up close and personal, then hike to and have lunch at Mirror Lake, a hiker’s Yin and Yang experience. The day ended with checking out El Capitan and some of the meadows that were not flooded. The next day we did the Upper Yosemite Fall Trail and then I had the opportunity to do a solo power hike up the Four Mile Trail with Kimball to get photos of the entire Valley in a wide-angle View; totally amazing. This being our first time in Yosemite and inexperienced hikers we could not have perceived getting in all that we did, seeing the best Yosemite could offer and having Kimball encourage us and keep us safe. All the while, Kimball had time to fill us in on the geology and factoids about the park.Kimball was an encouraging teacher all the while and where he does it. Before he left us each day he mapped out what we might like to do on the middle day and what we could fit in on our lest day leaving the park. This was an immersion experience that Kimball was able to do because he truly loves what he does and it surely did not matter that were green and required his expertise to keep us safe while we get the Yosemite experience.Bottom line is that no one will go wrong with selecting Lasting Adventures for park tours and my wife and I recommend that you try to get Kimball as your guide for the total package.
