Note: Pick-up times will vary, depending on SFO arrivals. If we have early or no SFO arrivals, we will adjust departure times to as early as 8:00 a.m. (Millbrae) and 8:30 a.m. (Castro Valley). *Confirmed times and driver information will be emailed during the week preceding the camp.
*Please note these times are estimates. Please arrive early and be prepared to wait as needed. Despite the airport delays discussed below, the shuttle will not wait for late arrivals, and we can’t issue refunds for missing a shuttle.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I register for the Adventure Shuttle?
You can select the ‘Adventure Shuttle Add-On’ when registering, or email us to add it to your existing booking. You will also need to complete the Yosemite Adventure Shuttle Registration Form (link).
Will someone be available to meet my child upon arrival at San Francisco International Airport? Will there be somebody to help my child check in on Friday as well?
The Lasting Adventures staff member/driver will meet your child/participant in the bus area outside the Arrivals Terminal at SFO. Your child/participant should carry a cell phone to check in with you and the driver when they get outside (please note that cell phones will be packed away during the hiking portion of their trip and will not be accessible). On the final day, drop-offs, the shuttle will drop off at the respective airline terminals and check-in areas. Our staff member/driver will stay with the vehicle and not enter the airport. Please note that we base the airport pick-up time on the final arrival time of all shuttle participants, plus about 20 minutes.
Who does my child call/contact when they arrive at the airport?
Our shuttle driver will be waiting in the cell phone parking lot and will contact your child shortly before or immediately after your child’s anticipated arrival at SFO. If needed, you can reach Lasting Adventures at 1-800-513-8651. (This message line pings multiple members of our team, including our on-call office staff.) We do not provide the shuttle driver’s number in advance to avoid distractions while they are driving. However, if you call our 1-800-513-8651 voicemail, one of our on-call admin team members will reply promptly and connect you with the shuttle driver as needed.
Do you allow youth traveling on airlines as Unaccompanied Minors?
Unfortunately no. Your child must be able to fly independently, disembark, and check in without support. Most airlines allow youth ages 15 and older to fly independently. Some airlines, like Southwest, allow youth as young as 12 to travel independently, but there may be additional fees for those under 14.
What if the scheduled flight arrives after 9:30 am?
Please contact us to discuss potential arrangements. Generally, a flight arriving a few minutes after 9:30 am won’t cause much inconvenience. However, because we have some trips hiking into the wilderness on the first day of the adventure, even minor delays may cause significant problems getting the trips on the trail.
What if my child’s airplane is delayed?
If delayed by 1-2 hours, we will do our best to accommodate you; we will apply a $100/hour late fee to cover costs incurred as a result of the delay. We will apply this charge after 15 minutes past the hour. For delays greater than two hours, we prefer you reschedule your trip with us. If this delay happens in transit and our shuttle cannot accommodate you, we will work with you to arrange alternative transportation to our location, such as Uber.
Where can my child, who is flying to you, pick up lunch?
There will be a snack/lunch and restroom stop halfway through the drive to Yosemite.
If the Youth Program start time is earlier, won’t this shuttle be late?
Technically, yes, but it’s ok! When necessary to accommodate SFO arrivals, we plan for the Adventure Shuttle to arrive after all other participants. When the Adventure Shuttle arrives, we only need to get participants arriving by the Adventure Shuttle set up with their groups before setting out on the adventure. Once your child arrives at Yosemite, we will also notify you via email.
When will I hear more updates?
We will send the final Adventure Shuttle details during the week before camp. We will also email updated timings after campers depart from Yosemite National Park on the shuttle at the end of their trip.
What if I need to cancel the Adventure Shuttle?
Please contact us by email as soon as possible. Outside 60 days, there is no cost. Between 60 and 30 days in advance, we will retain 50% of the cost; within 30 days, we will not provide a refund.
What other options exist if we are not coming from the SF Bay Area?
See our Yosemite Transportation Optionon the shuttle at the end of their trip.
