Lasting Adventures Employment

We are a 501(c)(3) public benefit non-profit that operates various backcountry programs, utilizing Adventure-Based Programming to make personal connections with the environment and the world around us. We facilitate youth backpacking programs, adventure-based outdoor education programs, corporate programs, family adventures, custom backpacking trips, and day hikes. We work to ensure our programs are meaningful, supportive, educational, and fun.

We accept applications on a rolling basis for all positions and continue until all positions are filled. We strive to hire exceptional and professional individuals who share a passion for the outdoors and want to share that passion with others. Applicants should meet our basic requirements below, and we prefer those who have had similar work experiences and/or training in the past. Minimum Requirements:

  • Able to legally work in the United States (unfortunately, we are not an H2B Visa Employer)
  • Ability to attend our 2025 mandatory staff training from May 29th to June 4th (Yosemite Staff) or June 13th to 19th (Olympic Staff)
  • Open availability during our prime period of June to mid-August
  • Current Wilderness First Responder or higher AND current CPR/AED, kept valid through October 15*
  • CA Food Handlers Certificate/WA Food Worker Card, kept valid through October 15*
  • Able to pass a Department of Justice background check (fingerprinting required)
  • A minimum of 21 years old (18 for Operations and Marketing Assistants)
  • Solid communication and leadership skills
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Ability to work 5-7 days/week, 8-15 hours a day during regular duty
  • Although we do not require vaccinations, they are recommended

   

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field (ex. Recreation, Environmental Studies, Youth Development, Outdoor Education, etc.)
  • Experience with backpacking and related gear
  • Experience with the outdoors and/or outdoor industry
  • Ability to work longer stretches than the above-mentioned during backpacking trips
  • Ability to carry a backpack of up to 50 pounds +/- for multiple days
  • Knowledge of (or desire to learn) the history, geology, plants, and wildlife in our program areas
  • Backcountry cooking skills
  • Reliable transportation to/from work
  • A passion for the outdoors
 

*If you need financial assistance with mandatory certifications, please contact us. As part of our mission to employ the best Outdoor Educators, Lasting Adventures offers a “WFR Repayment Program” for candidates who cannot apply due to the financial constraints of obtaining the Wilderness First Responder certification before employment. This program is only available to qualified individuals after receiving a job offer. It consists of paycheck deductions through the summer to repay the cost of the WFR program in full.

Outdoor Educator/Assistant Guide

Hiring for the 2025 season will open in December/January. Check back for updates on interviews and hiring.

Outdoor Educators work hard to ensure our programs are meaningful, supportive, educational, and fun while providing superior service levels that exceed client expectations. Outdoor Educators will begin working in our youth programs while potentially gaining some experience as Assistant Guides for our adult/family programs. Must be 21 years old.

Marketing and Logistics Assistant

Hiring for the 2025 season will open in December/January. Check back for updates on interviews and hiring.

Assistants will work beginning with our mandatory staff training in late May and will go through mid-August. Our Assistant Positions are an excellent opportunity for 18-20+-year-old applicants with job-level skills to gain more experience.

Hiring Timeline:

Applications open on this page will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

For Outdoor Educators and Guides, we typically begin interviews in early January and continue until all positions are filled.

For Administrative Positions, interviews will begin in December, with a tentative starting date in January or early February.
