An Educator's Take

The Lasting Adventures program provides for an invaluable growth opportunity for our students in the natural classroom of Yosemite. The staff at Lasting Adventures is amazing; they understand how to push young people towards challenging goals while providing constant support. They are passionate about Yosemite and all the lessons this great park can teach us about ourselves and the environment. Working with them to design the best program for our students was a pleasure.

Program Locations

Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National park is where Lasting Adventures began. Home to towering waterfalls, gigantic rock faces, and peaceful meadows, Yosemite has a variety of opportunities for exploring the strength of granite, the power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra.
Olympic National Park
Diversity is the hallmark of Olympic National Park. Over nearly a million acres, the park protects a vast wilderness, thousands of years of human history, and several distinctly different ecosystems, including glacier-capped mountains, old-growth temperate rainforests, and over 70 miles of wild coastline.
Sequoia - Kings Canyon National Park
These parks are characterized by extremes. Deep gorges lie next to the largest mountains in the contiguous United States. In the foothills, vast caverns, and the world’s largest trees demonstrate the diversity found here. Not as well known as Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon offer opportunities for remote backpacking trips and camping adventures all along the Western Sierra.
Lassen Volcanic National Park
Lassen Volcanic National Park is home to wildflower studded meadows, colorful steaming fumaroles, all four types of volcanoes, and plenty of crystal clear lakes. The explosive history here is evident in the landscape. Camping and backpacking trips can take you to the summits of volcanoes and the shores of mountain lakes.
Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree National Park exists at the junction between two different desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado. Here, in this strange landscape sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrential rains, lives a huge variety of plants and animals to discover. The wilderness experience here is augmented by dark night skies and a rich history. Joshua tree is a great place to explore on foot or by camping in one of the park's many campgrounds.

Hybrid Camping/Lodging & Backpacking Programs

With a minimum of a 5-day program, and based on permits & locations, we offer a hybrid experience of front country camping and wilderness backpacking. This offers an opportunity for youth to split their time engaging in front country activities like rock climbing, outdoor cooking, and team building while also getting to experience the magic of a backpacking trip in one of many possible locations. This is a great option for youth who have less outdoor experience to get more comfortable with the outdoors before partaking in an intro backpacking trip of 1-2 nights.
