Adventure, Art, and a Little Bit of Cheesecake
Rowan Knight brings a rare blend of creativity, compassion, and curiosity to the trail—and we’re stoked to have them on the Lasting Adventures team!

📍 From Arkansas to the American Southwest
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Rowan first fell in love with backpacking during undergrad in Colorado.
“I would spend every school break exploring the American Southwest. Utah has a special place in my heart.”
Rowan’s love for nature runs deep:
“I also consumed copious amounts of dirt as a child, so I’d like to think that had a lasting impact,” they joke.
🎬 Film, Music, and Trail Mix
With a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Studies and a minor in Music, Rowan’s artistic side is always close by. They’re also a musician, filmmaker, photographer, and—perhaps most notably—an avid fan of the Twilight franchise.
🛠️ Serious Skills, Playful Spirit
Don’t let their sense of humor fool you—Rowan is also highly trained, holding certifications in:
- Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
- Wilderness Advanced First Aid
- Leave No Trace (LNT)
Their goal? Merging adventure with intention.
“I really love working with kids and recreating outside. I can think of no other job that involves so much adventure while being able to share my passion.”
🌱 Why Rowan Guides

What Rowan loves most about guiding with Lasting Adventures?
“I love getting to form bonds with my trip participants and show them how special the natural world can be. Also, letting loose and being silly!”
Whether it’s a goofy moment on the trail or a meaningful conversation under the stars, Rowan believes the wilderness has a way of unlocking something deeper.
“When we’re away from civilization, it’s easier to connect with yourself—and your playful energy.”
🎒 Tips From the Trail
- Essential item to bring? “Plenty of layers!”
- Leave behind? “Body wipes and excess toiletries. You won’t need them.”
- Favorite trail song? “A Horse with No Name” by America
- Backcountry treat? Backcountry cheesecake. Yes, really.
🌄 Favorite Views & Memories
Rowan’s favorite view? A sunrise or sunset over Snow Creek in Yosemite.
And one of their favorite guiding memories?
“Last summer, I had a group of kids for two weeks. We got really close—we made a parody video on trail and did facemasks during a layover in the Valley.”
💬 Final Thoughts
Rowan believes the best guides embody three key traits:
Patience. Excitement. Kindness.
“Guides help guests and kids feel a deeper sense of place by sharing information and history. We also help facilitate personal growth through outdoor experiences.”
When asked what animal they’d be, Rowan replied:
“A bird. Perhaps a hawk.”
Soaring, perceptive, and always on the lookout for the next great adventure.
