Meet Your Guide: Anna

From mountain peaks to ocean depths, Anna Stumpf is a guide who knows how to explore it all. With a Master’s degree in Hydrology and Water Security, multiple certifications (WFR, ski instructor, scuba instructor 🧗‍♀️🌊⛷️), and an infectious enthusiasm for wild places, Anna brings both heart and science to every trip she leads.

🏡 Hometown: Enumclaw, WA

🎒 Guiding Experience: 3 years

📘 Education: M.S. in Hydrology and Water Security

🛡️ Certifications: WFR, Scuba Instructor, Ski Instructor

🌲 A Lifelong Outdoor Lover

Anna’s outdoor journey started early — thanks to adventurous parents who brought her along on canoe and backpacking trips from a young age. But her real inspiration?

“My grandma. She always led the way for me to get outdoors.” 💚👵

🐬 Inner Beast

No hesitation here — Anna identifies the most with a dolphin:

“Can stay underwater for a long time.” 🐬💦
(She is a scuba instructor, after all!)

🏕️ What She Loves About Guiding

For Anna, guiding with Lasting Adventures is about wonder — the kind that sneaks up on you at the top of a trail or along a hidden stretch of coastline:

“I love the sense of wonder that the outdoors brings to everyone. Guiding gives me a chance to explore both the beach and the mountains — and to share that with others.” 🌊⛰️

🎶 Trail Anthem

The song that follows her on the trail?
“All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor. A catchy classic that’s always stuck in your head by mile 5. 🎧😂

🍜 Favorite Backcountry Meal

Nothing beats a warm, satisfying plate of Pad Thai after a long day on the trail. Bonus points if she’s cooking it! 🥢🔥

🏞️ Favorite View

It’s hard to beat a good sunrise or sunset, but from Maiden Peak in Olympic National Park? That’s next-level. 🌄🌲

👧 The Power of a Guide

Anna believes one of the most valuable things guides do is help others simply explore nature — especially kids. And sometimes, the magic shows up in the little moments… like:

“Making a blueberry cheesecake on the final day after completing the northern beach route.” 🍰💙

🎒 Gear Tips from Anna

Bring: A warm layer — always. 🧥
Leave: Makeup and heavy books. You won’t need ‘em! 📚🚫

🌼 Outside of Guiding, You’ll Find Anna…

❄️ Skiing down snowy slopes
🐎 Riding horses
🪸 Diving underwater
🌸 Seeking wildflowers and cool rock outcrops

💡 Her Outdoor Mentor

Anna credits Ryan Hayes as a key mentor in her journey:

“He’s always patient and takes the time to explain things in different ways. He listens.” 🧭

✨ Qualities Every Guide Should Have

  • 💥 Enthusiasm
  • ⏳ Patience
  • 💡 Ingenuity

Whether she’s spotting wildflowers, cooking camp meals, or inspiring curiosity on the trail, Anna brings all three — and more — to every adventure.

We’re so lucky to have you on the team, Anna! 💚
Ready to join one of her adventures? You just might end up with a slice of cheesecake on the beach. 😉
