How Your Donation Can Help A Youth Experience Nature
“Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the stars and the mountains above. Let them look at the waters and the trees and flowers on Earth. Then they will begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education.”
-David Polis
Since the summer of 1997, Lasting Adventures has shared the magic and wisdom of nature with over 5,000 kids and provided an excess of 1,200 scholarships to underserved youth to explore the wonder of Yosemite National Park. In the past year alone, we provided scholarships for 37 youth valuing over $32,000 in contributions!
We firmly believe that all youth should have the opportunity to experience and learn from wild places regardless of their financial circumstances. Through your generosity and support, we’ve also created a variety of programs catering to those who have historically had less access to these natural places making wilderness available to all.
If you would like to join in our goal of providing lasting adventures and lifetime memories to underserved youth, please consider a tax-deductible contribution to our scholarship fund.
Here are some examples of what your contributions can help provide for a youth in need:
- $15: Meals on Trail
- $25: Sleeping Pad
- $75: Backpack
- $80: Trailhead Permit
- $100: Sleeping Bag
- $1,550: 6-Day Backpacking Trip
- $3,500: 13-Day Backpacking Trip
More importantly, as one of our past participants Jon Hart describes, your contribution provides the most important gift of all -“the gift of adventure.”
“Lasting Adventures (and contributions from donors) gave me one of the most important gifts I have ever received -the gift of adventure. A sense of adventure that I never knew existed -the kinds of adventures that fill your life with pride, positive relationships, and excitement about the future, the ones that make the world vast, bright, and beckoning to be explored. Nature, and the Lasting Adventure guides that introduced me to its bounty, were the greatest role models in my life. With every new outdoor experience brought questions about the world around me, and that pursuit of knowledge brought about a renewed interest in school and my academics. It impassioned me to protect that what I loved, and over the years developed into a strong sense of volunteerism in myself that I don’t think I would ever had possessed otherwise. At an age where confidence and self-esteem can be a struggle I gained a sense of accomplishment that I had never experienced.”
Once again, we hope you will consider making a difference in a child’s life by contributing to our scholarship fund and give one lucky child “the gift of adventure.” Click HERE to donate today!
