Lasting Memories

Many people remember their first time sleeping outside in a tent at one of our National Park’s impressive campgrounds. Fond memories of cozy sleeping bags, day hikes through dense forests or past great vistas, and eating delicious s'mores around the campfire still bring smiles to our faces. While Lasting Adventures is best known for its incredible trips backpacking in the backcountry, we also love bringing our brand of adventure closer to the comforts of home on our classic camping trips. Our Olympic National Park Classic Camping is an adventure suitable for anyone and everyone.

Join us as we embark to all corners of the park known for its diversity; from lows exploring the depths of the tide pools along Rialto Beach, to highs marveling at the beautiful Blue Glacier of Mt. Olympus. We will work with you to select the best day trips for you and give you a trip to remember for years to come. We value providing interesting and remarkable experiences that highlight the Native and contemporary history of the land, the resident flora and fauna, the epic geological story, and any interest you may have.

Top-of-the-line camping gear is provided to make your stay at camp as comfortable as possible. Relax under the stars on the shores of the famous Lake Crescent as our guides prepare delicious camp meals every night. Of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without a campfire and s’mores.

This multi-day tour is a great trip for people of all abilities and experience; perfect for families and solo travelers. This is a top choice for first-timers to Olympic National Park.

This is a sample itinerary only.

Day 1: Meet at the campground and short local hike.

You will meet your guide at the designated campground at 2 p.m. This will be followed by group orientation and introductions. After settling into the campsite, we will explore the nearby lake or a hiking trail of interest. Dinner and campfire in the campsite, as time allows. Total Mileage: 2-4 miles

Day 2: Rialto Beach, Hole in the Wall & Sol Duc Falls

After a hearty breakfast, we will shuttle to Rialto Beach to explore the beach next to sea stacks emerging from the Pacific Ocean. We will hike the gentle mile to the famous arch known as Hole in the Wall and the tide pools teeming with life at its base. If we are lucky enough to arrive at low tide, we will have plenty of time to enjoy some tide pooling and eat lunch on the massive driftwood on the beach. After lunch, we will head to explore Sol Duc Falls and Lovers Lane, an easy hike through lush old-growth forest and to a unique multi-channel waterfall. Following the hikes, we will drive back to our campsite for dinner and relaxation.

    Total Mileage: 8-9 miles

Day 3: Hurricane Ridge, Klahane Ridge, Hurricane Hill

After an early morning breakfast, we will head to Hurricane Ridge, renowned for its spectacular vistas and views of the Olympic Mountains. We will spend some time here appreciating the namesake of the park, before deciding between the options for day hikes. After arriving back at the Hurricane Ridge parking lot, if the weather is favorable, we will have the option to stay for a ranger led star gazing program. The program includes telescopes capable of focusing on far away planets, stars, and galaxies and will be a guaranteed highlight of your trip. Note: If this is a viable option, this should be discussed before leaving camp so that the guide can prepare a to-go dinner at Hurricane Ridge.

    Total Mileage: 3.0-7.0 miles

Day 4: Deer Park to Maiden Peak or the Hoh Rainforest

We have a very difficult choice to make today, in the best way possible. Option 1 is to hike to Maiden Peak, where you will see 360 degree views from the Olympic Mountains to the Puget Sound. Option 2 is to travel deep into the dense Hoh Rainforest, famed for its ancient, giant trees and being one of the wettest places in the country. Neither choice will disappoint. We will share a warm cooked meal around the campfire when we return back to camp.

    Total Mileage: 2.0-8.0 miles

    Day 5: Self-Guided Tour

During breakfast, your guide will present some options for self-guided tours when you leave Olympic. Several beautiful waterfalls are well worth visiting and are sure to impress. Your guide will help you create the best plan and offer valuable tips for your final day in the park. Due to the campsite reservations, please plan to leave the campsite by 10:00 a.m.
