The air around the Lasting Adventures guide house is cool and quiet this mid-September morning. The shelves of our gear garage are stocked to the brim, the prep room is empty and clean, and the family of 30+ guides that makes its annual pilgrimage to Yosemite each May has packed up and moved on to other ventures, until next summer. By the feel of it now, it’s hard to see that for the past three months, this place was the launch pad for dozens of Yosemite summer camp adventures, countless life-changing experiences, and endless unforgettable moments for hundreds of youth and teens among the magic of the Yosemite backcountry.
Along with the memories, this summer lives on in pictures. Thanks to our faithful guides, each trip has been well documented and all we have to do to place ourselves back in those extraordinary moments is flip through the photos and reminisce. As it does year after year, Yosemite provided an unparalleled space for growth, skill-building, overcoming challenges and instilling passion for this wonderful world we are so lucky to be a part of. Our students of the outdoors broke trail through snow and creek crossings, oriented themselves with maps and compasses, built shelter, told stories around camp fires, trekked mountains, and stood atop some of earth’s most iconic peaks. Altogether, the experiences built character and lent life-lessons that will help form and inspire us all for years to come. Here are some of the moments from our Lasting Adventures this summer.
We hope to see all of you again next summer!
Thanks to all our partners who support our nonprofit youth program. We’re proud to say with your help we benefited over 280 youth through multi-day adventures ranging in length from 6 to 27-days.
