The Lasting Adventures program provides for an invaluable growth opportunity for our students in the natural classroom of Yosemite. The staff at Lasting Adventures is amazing; they understand how to push young people towards challenging goals while providing constant support. They are passionate about Yosemite and all the lessons this great park can teach us about ourselves and the environment. Working with them to design the best program for our students was a pleasure
-Ingermarie Davis, San Carlos Charter Learning Center

Our custom California outdoor education programs typically include an emphasis on any of the following:
- Natural History
- Cultural History
- Environmental Science
- Watershed, Rivers, and Lakes
- Leadership Skills and Team Building
- Academic growth and Goal setting
- Group communication and problem solving skills
- Personal growth and development of interpersonal skills
- Backpacking skills, backcountry ethics, and environmental awareness
On all programs participants will participate in safe adventure activities, fun games, and the experiential learning cycle within one of America’s most favorite National Parks. Participants will actively engage in daily activities that are: Significant, Challenging, Supportive, and Fun!
SIGNIFICANT Yosemite provides unlimited opportunities for personal connections to nature and opportunities for our staff to facilitate many unique activities and games that have lasting impressions. The dramatic Yosemite landscape itself is a significant factor in bringing textbook knowledge alive as we examine the geology, ecology, animals, watershed, and the greater world and forces around us.
CHALLENGING Whether it be reaching the top of a trail pass, partaking in your first bear encounter, cooking for the first time on a backpacking stove, participating in group games, helping construct tarp structure in a rain storm, or reaching the summit of a major peak such as Half Dome (8,836’); In Yosemite we have unlimited opportunities where participants may feel that they are on the brink of both success and failure, and where they both succeed and fail. We value these all as great learning moments and support each other along the way!
SUPPORTIVE In our programs this can vary from being involved in a group balance game on a log over the water, or helping a friend or colleague overcome their fear of heights as they cross the spine on Clouds Rest (9,926’) or summit Half Dome (8,836’) for the first time. We always emphasize safety-first, and we create an atmosphere and space where participants are supported as they push themselves to their limits. Additionally, whether it is during morning stretches, on the trail, or around the laughter at the campfire; we provide ongoing opportunities to debrief and reflect on the experience. We also consistently promote caring and respect for others.
FUN Let’s face it, in all that we do, we have fun! Many times our groups are having so much fun in the Yosemite backcountry that they forget how much learning is going on. This makes us smile.
Read what others have to say:
“I have been to college, traveled Europe, to the Caribbean, and many other road trips. Nothing compares to those Yosemite trips years ago with Lasting Adventures.” – Past Youth Participant
“I’m a school science teacher who took a group of students on a week long, 40 mile backpacking trip. Some of the kids had never camped before. We had rain, hail, thunder, lightning and cold, but we had the best time. Lasting Adventures knew how to keep the kids happy and safe while also taking us to some of the most amazing places, like natural water slides that blew the kid’s minds that we never would have found on our own. Their experience and knowledge of the Yosemite backcountry made our trip feel like 10 awesome trips rolled into one.” –Neil Aho, The Academy, Berkeley, CA.
“The worse part about the end of the Yosemite trip with Lasting Adventures is that it marks the start of another year of waiting before my return.” – Youth Participant
“I am happy to say that last summer’s Yosemite trip was really amazing. Although all of my students have disappeared into their schools, the ones I run into still report an amazing experience.” -Richard Triana, Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Arizona
