We begin this hike with a tour of Glacier Point and pointing out the prominent points throughout the valley. Feel the rush of reaching the top of an easy dome when we summit Sentinel Dome at 8,122′. Following a mellow hike we will reach Taft Point and the Fissures. You’ll the awe-inspiring views of the unmatched natural beauty of Half Dome, Vernal Fall, Clouds Rest, Nevada Fall, Yosemite Falls and much more!

“Gorgeous views of the entire valley, Half Dome, Basket Dome and the Sierra mountain ranges!!! It was slightly strenuous to hike up Sentinel Dome but the view there was well worth it! Glacier Point Down The 4 mile Trail

  • Hours: 5-7 hours

Unobstructed views of El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, Cathedral Rocks and Yosemite Valley! Not to mention all downhill and the quickest way to get down to the valley from Glacier Point.

Why this hike is great:
This trip is another great hike for the first time visitor to the park. After an informational shuttle tour to Glacier Point, we take in the views and learn the history of this historic location. Our hike then takes us mostly downhill for 4.7 miles before returning to the Valley proper where we will cross the Merced River and return to the Yosemite Lodge via the “Swinging Bridge.”

 My 22-year-old daughter and I spent a memorable day with Scott Gehrman of Lasting Adventures and a lovely couple from Australia. It was just the five of us. We hiked down the Glacier Point Four-Mile Trail to the valley floor, and then to Yosemite Falls . Scott was wonderful! Get up close and personal with Yosemite Falls! One of the tallest waterfalls in North America at 2,425′ this hike takes you up switchbacks after switchbacks to award you with the views the whole way up! Check out the picture above for a teaser.

Why this hike is great:
This trail is challenge by choice! Think of climbing a flight of stairs, you could do 5 flights or you could do 100. It all depends on the extent you want to challenge yourself. Either way you’ll see some amazing views.

Avoid the crowds! Tuolumne Meadows is often overshadowed by Yosemite valley, but this place has a beauty all it’s own. The varying options make this great for families, those with limited mobility and or those who are seeking adventure! Not to mention the beauty of the high country is hard to beat.
