Highlights: Experience Yosemite National Park hiking at its finest! The Glen Aulin hike follows the Tuolumne River out of Tuolumne Meadows as it winds lazily through granite and valleys before it waterfalls and cascades into the pool at Glen Aulin. Bring your swimsuit! Total round-trip is 13-miles.

Meeting Location: Lembert Dome at 8,640′
High Point: Glen Aulin: 7,840′
Elevation Loss/Gain: aprox. 800′

Meeting time and location: 8:00am in front of Lembert Dome which is in Tuolumne Meadows of Yosemite. This is along Hwy 120 (also known as Tioga Road). It takes approximately 1.5 hours to drive to this location from Yosemite Valley. Lembert Dome is the first left after you cross the bridge in Tuolumne Meadows (right pass the campground on the right.)

If you are looking for a gorgeous and mild hike, the Glen Aulin hike is the one for you! After meeting at 8am we will begin our 13-mile round trip. From the parking lot, it is about 2 miles of easy and relaxing hiking, surrounded by gargantuan, glacier carved granite peaks to the trailhead. The first 3-3.5 miles from the trailhead are flat and simple hiking through sandy trails, bringing us through northern Tuolumne Meadows. At around this point, we will run into the Tuolumne River. Following the river downstream along the trail leads us on a slow downgrade 2 ½ -3 miles past Tuolumne Falls, past White Cascade and into the giant swimming pool that the cascades crush into. We have made it to Glen Aulin! Don’t forget your fishing rod and bathing suit, there is no better hike that offers a more beautiful swimming hole in Yosemite than the Glen Aulin hike! We will also each lunch here and catch some z’s along the shores while listening to the cascade.

When you are ready, your guide will lead you 6.8 miles back the way we came, ascending only 800 vertical feet from Glen Aulin’s 7840’ to Tuolumne’s 8640’. Once we reach civilization back in Tuolumne Meadows, you may help yourself to the general store and grill, which is about a mile west of where we began in the Tuolumne Permit Station lot. If the grill isn’t fitting, or closed, your guide will lead you back to your vehicle, and after very sad goodbyes, our incredible day will be over.

Guides carry first aid kits, water purification methods, toilet paper (for emergencies), suntan lotion and bug repellent. Please plan to bring your own lunch, snacks, water bottles, etc. Remember, all profits from our guided trips go towards supporting our youth summer camp program.

Note: Should weather, fire, and/or delayed seasonal openings affect the chosen itinerary, a different itinerary will be offered. You will be kept in contact throughout this process.
